How do I choose a farmhouse wall clock?
The farmhouse style emphasizes the use of natural-looking and warm tones. While the intricate details will differ from home to home, as some might like a more contemporary or minimalist look, while others might seek to have many layers of designs.
In general, you would be looking for clocks made out of wood, maybe even distressed wood, or perhaps an item that has a weathered and vintage look.
Wrought iron metal does well here too.
When it comes to the style you are trying to achieve, here are some basic guidelines:
Modern Farmhouse – Clean lines over a contrasting color palette. Not uncommon to see lots of white against dark tones like black or dark green.
Rustic Farmhouse – More colors being used, and it is obvious that decor and furniture have a much more “lived in” look.
Western Farmhouse – The most rugged look of all. Think untreated wood, leather, and Native American influences.
French Farmhouse – This style follows those of French origins. Pastel colors such as pink or blue are commonly used for accent over a backdrop of offwhite.
Industrial Farmhouse – resembling more like an actual working farm, there is a strong element of metals here. Try to go with galvanized metal or rust-covered details.
What kind of numerals should I choose for my wall clock?
I have to say, I personally prefer Roman numerals as they look way better than just 1, 2, 3, but of course, I am biased.
For most cases, the type of numerals on your clock would not matter very much, but I would tend to think that Arabic numerals will suit a modern theme better. And don’t forget, if you have small children at home, plain old numbers would be better since they might not know how to read Roman numerals yet.
