Who Owns Maiden Home Furniture?

Maiden Home Furniture is a business that was started and owned by Nidhi Kapur.

She graduated from Stanford University in 2008 and has held positions in McKinsey, Google, and Birchbox.

The direct-to-consumer company focuses on high-quality, handmade, and customizable furniture pieces that are built with non-toxic materials.

How Long Has Maiden Home Furniture Been in Business?

Maiden Home furniture has been in business since 2015 when its owner Nidhi Kapur raised $500,000 to start the company.

What Style is Maiden Home Furniture?

Maiden Home furniture can be described as modern luxury (consider this brand too: review of Bernhardt furniture), with a heavy emphasis on artisanal handcrafted pieces that accentuates the modern home.

What Kind of Furniture Does Maiden Home Furniture Make?

At this moment, I would describe Maiden Home as an up-and-coming furniture retailer and somewhat of a boutique shop.

If you are looking for a one-stop shop, this might not be the best choice for you, but if you were searching for something that is handmade, unique, yet well-priced, Maiden Home could definitely offer up something.

Here is what you can get right now:

  • Sofas
  • Sectionals
  • Chairs
  • Beds
  • Coffee Tables
  • Benches & Ottomans
  • Dining Tables
  • Dining Chairs & Stools

While they might not have the widest range of products, what they have are essential building blocks of any home that offers a timeless look and exceptional quality.

Where is Maiden Home Furniture Made/manufactured?

Maiden Home furniture is made in the state of North Carolina in the United States.

The company works with local artisans who are commissioned to manufacture the furniture pieces by hand, using age-old techniques passed down from the experts of yesteryear.

The design is done in-house in their New York offices.

How Much Is a Maiden Home sofa?

the dune sofa by maiden home furniture

For context, let’s take a look at the price of one of the most popular sofas from Maiden Home.

Without a doubt, The Dune attracts a lot of attention for good reason.

It’s a really handsome and comfortable-looking sofa that screams classiness and clean lines.

If you were to choose the 60″ option which seats 2 comfortably, it would cost $2,725 + shipping & taxes.

Now that is not exactly a cheap price to pay, but when you consider the value you are getting, this is excellent value for money.

If you walked into a big box store or branded furniture shop right now, I can promise you that you would be hard pressed to find something of this level of attention to detail, high-quality materials, and made from scratch.

Is Maiden Home Furniture Good Quality?

Good quality, good value, good customer service, and good delivery.

This is the formula that Maiden Home Furniture has used to build its success over the years.

The company specializes in providing customers with top-notch products that are made from the finest materials possible, all handcrafted by artisans who are well versed in the art of furniture making.

The skills they have are becoming a lost art in the world of fast furniture and big box brands, so what you get here with Maiden Home is one of a kind.

By implementing this mantra into every aspect of their business model, they can ensure each customer has an amazing experience with them every single time.

I love how Maiden Home furniture is able to deliver a superb product at competitive prices which have made them one of if not the best choice for all your furniture needs.

Let’s dive deeper into the finer points.

1. Maiden Home Materials and Design

This is where Maiden Home truly stands out against the competition, and in fact, blows them away.

Starting with craftsmanship, the company works with some of the best furniture experts hailing from North Carolina.

If you did not know, the state was where the top furniture makers of the United Stated worked, until big brands started shipping their production overseas.

Now, they continue to utilize methods that have been passed down through generations and created long before Ford launched the assembly line, to make every single piece of product.

Because of this, the furniture has distinctive, handcrafted elements that have long been removed from mass-produced furniture, such as the fan-pleated roll-arm of the Carmine sofa or the mitered corners of their Essex and Wythe beds.

Each item in the collection is created to honor the talent of their partners who make each one with such consideration.

Frames are mostly made with 1” thick plywood made of kiln-dried hardwood (compared to competitors’ 0.5” frames made of particleboard that does not last) that are extremely durable and provide excellent support to the user.

When it comes to springs in the sofas, they have been specifically designed for each model to provide the highest comfort and quality, unlike many big box brands that just slap on a low-quality spring that will not last for long.

And finally, the cushions are made of high-resiliency Ultracel foam that will not lose its shape even after years and years of usage. This foam has a density of 1.8 lbs and a compression value of 21 lbs, which is much higher than what its competitors offer.

In simple words, they will last and hold their shape longer.

These cushions are then covered with upholstery that is non-toxic and doesn’t contain flame retardants or anti-fungal treatments

2. Maiden Home Order and Delivery Process

In this section, let’s take a closer look at the process you would go through for ordering an item on Maiden Home.

Since everything is online-based, you do not have an option to shop in-store.

That said, the online shopping experience is very smooth and easy.

On most product pages, you will be offered opportunities to customize the product such as selecting your preferred fabric, changing the size, or choosing different colors.

It is also made very clear that there will be a $135 white glove shipping fee (some smaller items ship for free) so you don’t get any surprises.

However, I think they could do better by including some kind of tax calculator too, rather than show the tax amount only on the final step.

On to the delivery process.

Since each piece of furniture is made to order, don’t expect things like next-day shipping here.

In general, you would need to wait at least 6-8 weeks for a product to be made before it gets shipped.

From here, it will be in the hands of the delivery company, and this can take up to another 2-4 weeks.

Well, I guess the saying “good things come to those who wait” is very appropriate here!

Despite the long wait to get your purchase, it is well worth it.

The delivery team is very professional and will call you up to schedule a suitable time.

They don’t leave until your furniture gets to its spot exactly where you want it.

As for payment terms, you can choose to pay with your credit card or use ShopPay or AffirmPay to split the bill into installments.

3. Maiden Home Product Warranty and Customer Service

Maiden Home has a great warranty and customer service.

If you have a question or problem, they will be there for you.

For the duration of the product’s useful life, all frames and spring systems, along with their joints, bases, legs, and hardware, are warranted to be free from manufacturing flaws.

Some other mechanisms such as gliders and swivels have a 2-year warranty period.

4. Maiden Home Return Policy

I personally think that their return policy is really awesome, even though I do not think that you might need it.

If for some reason you are not satisfied with your delivered product within 30 days, you can initiate a return and they will send someone over to pick it up.

You will incur a 10% return fee, and that will include the cost of them sending it off for donation.

And of course, you should ensure that the furniture is still as good as new. Any damage or excessive wear and tear will disqualify you.

Where to Buy Maiden Home Furniture?

Maiden Home is a 100% direct-to-consumer company, which means that they operate without middlemen to deliver their products to you.

There are no shops that you can walk in to view and purchase, but rather, you can buy Maiden Home furniture on their online store.

That means you can shop at any time of the day and night!
