Apt2B Furniture Review: Worth the higher price?

Shopping for furniture online can be quite tricky, which is why it’s really useful to read what others have gone through to have a good sense of what to expect.

In this post, I wanted to share my own Apt2B furniture review which was possible only because I was made responsible by my parents to get them a new sofa set.

Instead of going to my usual choices, I decided to dig around a bit for new furniture brands to try out. Apt2B (pronounced Apartment Two Be) was one that stood out, and we decided to give them a try.

Overview of Apt2B furniture

Apt2B was founded by Alex Black and Matt Herman and they are based in Los Angeles. However, they are a purely online retailer and do not operate any physical store at this moment.

As a first-time buyer, I am sure there is some understandable hesitation in placing an order without being able to see the furniture in person.

No one wants to spend a couple of thousand dollars to get a dud, but online retailers have really stepped up their game.

You start to see many direct-to-consumer brands just like Apt2B enter the fray and do an amazing job. (Albany Park is another one I love)

Another cool aspect about Apt2B is that they offer made-to-order sofa which lots of big box brands do not.

The website provides plenty of product images and dimensions for every piece of furniture, so you’ll know exactly what you’re getting when you hit order.

While they do not have a physical store for you to visit, there are also lots of pictures provided by satisfied customers on their site.

What products do Apt2B offer?

Apt2B carries a wide range of products for any home. Despite its name, they have furniture that will work well in all kinds of space from small apartments to large homes.

Most of the furniture Apt2B makes has a modern mid-century look to them, but they do offer a small collection of other styles including glam, bohemian, and more.

One glance at their website tells me that they are pretty capable of competing with most full-fledge retailers.

Apt2B’s website is easy to use, and the ordering process was extremely simple.

I ordered my Melrose sofa on my phone while watching television in bed one evening, and it only took a few minutes.

The checkout process was clear and easy to understand, with simple explanations of all the various shipping options, delivery methods, payment options and sales tax considerations.

I received an order confirmation immediately after submitting my order and payment information that included all of this information as well as the estimated date of delivery.

This email provided me with quick access to my account page where I could make changes to my order or cancel it if necessary, which was nice in case there were still a few things I needed to add to our living room decor before being ready for the big delivery day!

Take note that for customized sets, it does take a few weeks for them to be made.

Once that is completed, you will receive an update on your delivery date.

If you are in a rush for furniture, you should get their ready-made pieces.

Delivery

When my sofa arrived, it was delivered by two very friendly guys who placed it right where I wanted it. Every delivery is sent to your entryway, FYI.

As excited as I was to dive into the deep cushions, they asked that I inspect the sofa before they left.

After taking a quick look over everything, it was clear that everything looked exactly as expected: a sturdy frame with clean seams and firm cushions wrapped in a soft fabric cover.

I didn’t need any additional follow-up with customer service after my purchase, but for those curious, there’s a ton of information available on their website (including assembly instructions).

Assembly

The Melrose we ordered came fully assembled except for the legs. All I needed to do was screw them on, easy peasy.

For most of their sofas, you can expect the same, but if you were to purchase items such as beds, credenzas, and book cases.

These will require assembly, which is not included in the price.

You will be offered a White Glove assembly service for $129 which the team will deliver the item to a room of your choice and assemble it.

Customer service

I think that even to this day, many people are somewhat reluctant to buy furniture online, unlike smaller items that don’t require such a large investment.

And that presents a challenge if you’re not sure what you’re getting yourself into and need some assurance before dropping thousands of dollars on your purchase.

That’s where Apt2b’s customer service team comes in; they helped me navigate everything I needed to know before I made my decision.

Their team is amazing, they quickly answered all my questions and eased any of my concerns.

I like the online chat function where you can talk to someone immediately, and if things are not resolved there and then (they mostly are), you can get a follow-up through email to discuss further.

Materials and design

In fact, it is here where you can choose fabrics that are designed by Kyle Schuneman, a leading designer whose works have been featured in Esquire, Cosmopolitan, HGTV Magazine, and many other publications.

Many of the materials used are eco-friendly and do not involve the use of chemicals or flame retardants, a big plus in my books.

The designs are classy and sophisticated and are reflected by the modern and contemporary lines.

When it comes to the frame of the sofas, you can expect to see only solid wood in their collections.

Matching legs can be chosen to reflect your own personal tastes, from conical Mid Century to modern block wood.

I love that they come in subtle yet classic colors, Pecan, Espresso, or Natural.

Is Apt2B furniture good quality?

The quality of the sofa is consistent with what we expected from a mid-range product—it’s built well enough that we expect it to last through many years of use.

It looks amazing and you can definitely tell that it is made of high-quality materials while appreciating the top-notch workmanship.

The fabric is extremely durable, which isn’t surprising at all. Apt2B has made it quite clear that they use only premium fabrics, which by the way, you can request for a free swatch.

Despite its solid construction, there’s also something very chic about how slim its profile is—almost modern in appearance without sacrificing function or comfort.
